How to Protect Your WhatsApp Chats from Being Tracked

By Formoni 2 min read

Many apps on the internet claim to be a “WhatsApp Tracker” or “Web Scanner” that can show someone else’s chats. Reading someone’s chats without their permission is wrong and is also a crime. So in this article we do the opposite: how to check that nobody else is reading your WhatsApp chats, and how to protect your account from being tracked.

WhatsApp Chats को Track होने से कैसे बचाएं

1. Check Linked Devices

If someone scanned the QR code with your phone and turned on WhatsApp Web, they can read all your chats. Check it like this:

  • Open WhatsApp.
  • On Android tap ⋮ (three dots) at the top right; on iPhone tap Settings at the bottom.
  • Open Linked devices.
  • Tap any device that is not yours and choose Log out.

2. Turn on Two-step Verification

With this on, nobody can register your number on another phone, even if they get your OTP.

  • Go to Settings → Account → Two-step verification.
  • Tap Turn on and create a 6-digit PIN.
  • Add your email too, in case you forget the PIN.

3. Use App Lock and Chat Lock

  • App Lock: On Android go to Settings → Privacy → App lock (fingerprint); on iPhone go to Settings → Privacy → Screen lock (Face ID / Touch ID).
  • Chat Lock: Press and hold a chat and choose Lock chat. The chat moves to a separate locked folder.

4. Fix your Privacy Settings

In Settings → Privacy, set Last seen & online, Profile photo, About and Status to My contacts, so strangers cannot see your details.

5. Use Disappearing Messages

For important or private conversations, go to Settings → Privacy → Default message timer and make messages disappear after 24 hours, 7 days or 90 days.

6. Avoid “Tracker” and Modded Apps

  • These apps often ask for permission to read your notifications and storage, which puts your own data at risk.
  • Using fake or modded WhatsApp apps (such as GB WhatsApp) can also get your account banned.
  • Remove any app you do not recognise from Settings → Apps.

7. Never share your Verification Code

Never tell anyone your 6-digit WhatsApp code or your two-step PIN, even if they say they are a friend, a company or WhatsApp staff. WhatsApp never asks you for this code.

Conclusion

To keep your chats safe, check Linked devices from time to time, keep two-step verification and Chat Lock on, and stay away from unknown tracker apps. These small steps protect your WhatsApp from any kind of tracking.
